A senior and a freshman lead the way on the squads selected by writers from across the state. Carver senior star Solomon Washington was voted the boys Outstanding Player, while Vandebilt Catholic freshman Makayla Charles was chosen as the girls Outstanding Player. Woodlawn cruised past North Central, 48-0, on homecoming night at Independence Stadium on Friday. Isaiah Kennedy scored on a one-yard run with three minutes left in the first quarter to make it 8-0. On their next possession, Austin Walker followed it up with a seven-yard score. Just like the opening quarter, Woodlawn scored two more touchdowns late in the half courtesy of the same duo. Written for the LSWA LaGrange returned to the top of Class 4A girls basketball, winning a second LHSAA championship, while the McMain boys won their first-ever state title. Each team has now earned a top individual honor on the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A All-State basketball teams. LaGrange senior Jeriah Warren is Outstanding Player on the girls team. McMain’s Steven Kelly is Coach of the Year on the boys team.
