Area Prep Softball Report for Tuesday, March 12 Riverside Academy came from behind to defeat Chalmette 8-2 at home Monday. The game was scoreless into the sixth inning when the Owls scored twice in the top of the frame. The Rebels responded with eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to claim the win. Boys/Co-Ed Bowling: Scores high as Shaw tops Patrick Taylor in unbeaten showdown

Entering Thursday, only three unbeaten teams remained in the Division II boys/co-ed bowling ranks, and two of them – Archbishop Shaw and Patrick Taylor – faced off at Westside Lanes in Harvey. The Eagles obliterated the mark for high team series in the state this year, but the Tigers provided the individual highlights in a 19-8 Shaw victory. Shaw (11-0) fired a 3,984 team series – more than 300 pins more than the previous season-best in Louisiana – but still went into the final game tied 8-8. Boys/Co-Ed Bowling: Slidell defeats East Jefferson

One day after a tough district loss to Hammond, Slidell rebounded with a 23-4 victory over East Jefferson in a Division I boys/co-ed bowling match Tuesday at Bowling USA in Slidell. The Tigers (5-3) entered Tuesday at No. 18 in the latest Division I power rankings, just on the outside looking in of the playoffs. Cameron Lackey had games of 221 and 203 to lead Slidell. Haven Haynes' 147 opening game was the best of the day for the Warriors (0-11).

Boys/Co-Ed Bowling: Jesuit, Rummel win in advance of Monday showdown

Jesuit is third and Archbishop Rummel fourth in the latest release of the LHSAA’s Division I boys/co-ed bowling power rankings Thursday. They face off Monday at Bowlero Kenner, and they’ll head into the match off convincing wins Thursday. Jesuit defeated Hahnville 23-4, clinching the match in two games. Grant Gehring’s 279 at the anchor spot in game two led Jesuit (8-0), one of two remaining unbeatens in Division I along with Alexandria.
