Soccer Playoffs: Ben Franklin posts shutout to advance, 17 area schools in regionals Tuesday

Ben Franklin is an elite program in girls soccer.
The Falcons have won seven state titles and finished second in Division II a year ago, losing a tough 1-0 title match to St. Thomas More.
Ben Franklin is back in the quarterfinals in 2021 after the No. 6 Falcons shutout No. 11 Teurlings Catholic 4-0 Monday.
Isabella Lopez was brilliant, recording a hat trick with a goal in the first half and two in the second half while Ella Marsh added the other goal for Ben Franklin in the first half.
The Falcons (14-2-1) advance to the quarterfinals to face the winner of No. 3 Neville and No. 14 Ouachita Parish, who play today at Neville at 5:30 p.m. The Rebels finished their season 9-10-1.
A total of 17 area boys and girls teams swing into regional action today, including boys Division IV top seed Pope John Paul II, who will host Westminster Christian at 5 p.m.
Girls Division IV top seed Newman will host No. 17 Northlake Christian at 6:30 p.m. at Lupin Field.
