HAMMOND, La. – After helping the Southeastern Louisiana University women’s basketball team to a pair of road victories, Lady Lion senior forward Caitlyn Williams was named the Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second straight time in an announcement from the league office on Monday. Williams repeated as the league’s top player for the week after helping SLU snap a pair of three-game winning streaks for their opponents. HAMMOND, La. – After helping the Southeastern Louisiana University women’s basketball team to a pair of conference victories, Lady Lions senior forward Caitlyn Williams was named the Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week in an announcement from the league office on Monday. Williams is the first SLU player to earn Southland Player of the Week honors this season and the first since teammate Hailey Giaratano claimed the honor on Feb. 15, 2021. Area Prep Wrestling Report for Sunday, Jan. 9 Archbishop Rummel won the Battle of New Orleans Tournament at Chalmette. St. Paul’s finished second with Jesuit third. Fontainebleau was fourth and Hahnville finished fifth Saturday. The Raiders had individual champions including Cole Curry (126) and Carter Burgess (132). Archbishop Hannan had an outstanding day Saturday, winning all three duals in a quad meet. The Hawks downed St. Michael 48-36, winning five of the nine matches contested. Gavin Gautier (152), Preston Gautier (170), Grayson Pennison (182), Wade Rist (220) and Joel Marchad (285) scored falls for the Hawks. Hannan downed John Curtis Christian 46-24.
