HAMMOND, La. – After helping the Southeastern Louisiana University women’s basketball team to a pair of road victories, Lady Lion senior forward Caitlyn Williams was named the Southland Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second straight time in an announcement from the league office on Monday.

Williams repeated as the league’s top player for the week after helping SLU snap a pair of three-game winning streaks for their opponents. The Brusly, Louisiana native finished with 14 points and eight rebounds in both Thursday’s 69-68 win at McNeese and Saturday’s 52-30 victory at HBU.

“Individual honors are the product of team success and we’re very pleased to see Caitlyn get the recognition she deserves,” Southeastern head coach Ayla Guzzardo said. “She’s been our most consistent offensive threat and guards our opponent’s best player on the defensive end. She’s willingly taken on a big role for us and embraced her position as a senior leader.”

Williams leads Southeastern (11-6, 7-0 Southland), which is on its longest winning streak since the 1994-95 season, with 9.2 points per game. She leads the Southland with a 56.0 field goal percentage and is third in the league with 8.1 rebounds per game. Williams enters this week’s action as one of the program’s career leaders in rebounds (780, 6th) and blocked shots (89, 3rd).

The Lady Lions will return home to host McNeese on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the University Center. The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard live online at www.LionSports.net/ListenLive
