MONROE, La. – ULM fifth-year senior guard Andre Jones, who averaged 25.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists while leading the Warhawks to a Sun Belt Conference road sweep over Arkansas State and Little Rock, has been selected Louisiana Sports Writers Association Men’s College Basketball Player of the Week by a statewide panel of sports information directors and media members.

Jones made 59 percent of his field-goal attempts (20-of-34), including 57 percent of his 3-pointers (4-of-7), and 88 percent (7-of-8) of his free-throw attempts during the two-game stretch.

In Thursday’s 60-59 victory at Arkansas State, Jones made 10-of-17 shots from the field, including 1-of-2 3s, and finished with 21 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals as ULM stormed back from a 14-point second-half deficit. With the victory, the Warhawks snapped a four-game losing streak in Sun Belt Conference play while winning for just the second time in 18 games at First National Bank Arena.

The 6-foot-1, 191-pound Jones scored a career-high 30 points in ULM’s 75-72 overtime victory over Little Rock Saturday afternoon. His two free throws with 7.9 seconds left in regulation sent the game into overtime tied at 64-all. A Little Rock, Arkansas, native and former Trojan, Jones connected on 10-of-17 field-goal attempts, including 3-of-5 3-pointers, and 7-of-8 free throws. He scored 17 of his 30 points after the intermission and collected four assists.

Jones became the first Warhawk to score at least 30 points in a single game since Michael Ertel netted 30 against Georgia Southern on Feb. 6, 2020.

It marked ULM’s first Sun Belt road sweep since February 2018 when the Warhawks produced a pair of overtime victories at Georgia Southern (66-64) and Georgia State (90-82).
