Baseball: Chalmette, St. Paul’s, Kennedy, Rummel win Thursday

Area Prep Baseball Report for Friday, March 8

Chalmette blanked Riverside Academy 4-0 Thursday at Noel Suarez Stadium.

The Owls scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and two in the third inning.

Devin Dipascal pitched five hitless innings, walking two and striking out five. Latrell Grant pitched two scoreless innings, allowing four hits with two walks and a strikeout. Grant added two hits and an RBI.

Cameron Tipton homered while Marcus Campbell and Jayden Williams each added an RBI.

Ayden Bullock took the loss for the Rebels. Jayce Ruiz had two hits for Riverside (1-8).

Chalmette (8-1) has won seven straight games and will resume its series with Riverside today in LaPlace at 3:30 p.m.

St. Paul’s shut out Lakeshore 5-0.

Marcus Newfield weas outstanding on the mound, pitching six scoreless innings, allowing just three hits. Newfield walked just one and struck out four. Lucas Newfield finished up with a shutout inning.

Jude Roberts had two hits and drove in a run while Air Force commit Cooper Winchester added a hit and an RBI. Marcus Newfield and Andrew Iennusa each added an RBI for the Wolves.

St. Paul’s (6-5) will play a doubleheader against Lakeshore (2-8) Saturday.

John F. Kennedy outscored West Jefferson 17-11 on the West Bank for its first win of the season.

The Cougars scored 13 runs in the top of the first inning before the Buccaneers battled back to cut the deficit to 13-7 after two innings. It was 15-9 after three innings. Kennedy added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before West Jefferson added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Terrell Domino led the Cougars with three hits, including a home run, triple, single and two RBI. Amyne Darensbourg had two hits, including a triple and three RBI. Lionel Augustin and Malik Albert each added an RBI.

John F. Kennedy (1-8) will play Karr this evening at 6 p.m.

West Jefferson (0-3) will play at Sophie B. Wright today at 5:30 p.m.

Archbishop Rummel handled Fontainebleau 17-5.

The Raiders took a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning when the Bulldogs scored four runs. Rummel answered with five runs in the fifth inning, a run in the top of the sixth and four runs in the seventh inning. Fontainebleau added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Ruben Ramirez was 3-for-3 with two RBI, LSU commit Mikey Ryan was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Louisiana Tech commit Gavin Nix had a hit and three RBI, Tulane commit Evan Burg had two hits and two RBI and Aiden Gernard had a hit and three RBI to pace a 13-hit attack for Rummel.

Tulane commit Giancarlo Arencibia picked up the win despite giving up three runs in three innings. Arencibia allowed three hits, walked one and struck out eight.

Ethan Spadoni took the loss for Fontainebleau. Jackson Wall hit a 2-run home run for the Bulldogs.

Rummel (7-4) plays at Slidell today at 4 p.m.

Fontainebleau (5-7) will play at St. Thomas Aquinas Monday at 6:30 p.m.
