Volleyball: Haynes downs John Curtis, Crescent City, Riverdale, Vandebilt Catholic also victorious Monday

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Tuesday, Oct. 24

Haynes Academy scored a notable win Monday, defeating John Curtis Christian 25-15, 25-18, 25-17 at home for its third straight win.

Virginia Voitier finished with 14 kills, 12 digs, two blocks and two aces, Marilyn Voitier had nine kills and 12 digs and Isabella Granados finished with 19 assists, 11 digs and three kills for the Yellow Jackets.

Haynes (21-9) is back in action today at 4:30 p.m. at Patrick Taylor.

The Patriots (26-6) will play at Assumption Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Crescent City Christian won at De La Salle 25-18, 25-16, 25-22.

Ja’Kaira Jimcoily led the way with 10 kills and two blocks, Annabelle Rouquette had six kills, seven digs and three aces, Ja’Kayla Jimcoily had six kills, two digs and a block. Holly Oliviera had 24 digs and served four aces and Jensen Heaphy had 22 assists and 10 digs.

The Pioneers (22-13) return to action at First Baptist Christian today at 4:30 p.m. in a District 7-V contest.

The Cavaliers (4-17) travel to St. Martin’s Episcopal Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Riverdale overcame an early deficit to defeat East Jefferson 25-27, 25-16, 25-14, 25-12 in a District 8-II contest at home.

Senior outside hitter Carly Rosas had 13 kills while senior Mazie Parmley added 11 kills. Senior Libero Trish Cammagay had 23 digs and served seven aces. Senior Haley Ritter had 16 digs. Senior Morgan Williams added 34 assists.

The Rebels (12-18, 2-4) return to action Wednesday at McMain at 5:30 in district play.

The Warriors (14-27, 1-5) travel to South Terrebonne today at 4:30 p.m.

Vandebilt Catholic outlasted Academy of Our Lady 25-23, 24-26, 23-25, 27-25, 15-8 in Marrero.

Junior Neal Grace Berry led the Terriers with 27 kills, 15 digs and two aces while junior Shayleigh Sanders had 13 kills and three digs. Senior Ellie Rau added 20 digs. Sophomore Ava Smith produced 42 assists and senior Mackenzie Glenn had 15 assists.

Vandebilt Catholic (26-8) plays at Berwick today at 5:30 p.m. in District 8-III play.

The Penguins (24-7) return to District 7-II play today at 4:30 p.m. at Booker T. Washington in New Orleans.
