Soccer: Rummel edges HLB, Belle Chasse blanks Patrick Taylor

Area Prep Soccer Report for Wednesday, Nov. 30

Archbishop Rummel has dropped down to Division II in soccer this year. The move could result in the Raiders making a deep run in the LHSAA playoffs.

In a hard fought 3-2 match Tuesday evening, Rummel defeated H.L. Bourgeois at Terrebonne High School.

Scoring goals for the Raiders were seniors CJ Koppeis and Tobo Takpore, along with junior Christopher Wallace.

The Raiders (2-1) head to Monroe to play in a tournament this weekend against West Ouachita, Airline and West Monroe.

The Braves fell to 2-1 with the defeat.

Belle Chasse blanked Patrick Taylor 6-0 at home to remain unbeaten.

The Cardinals led just 1-0 at the half but broke the match open in the second half with five goals.

Freshman Jared Manguia stole the show with three goals and two assists. Juniors Eduardo Barahona, Brennan Chestnut and Daxton Hemmings each scored a goal and Barahona added an assist.

Belle Chasse (3-0) will host John Ehret Thursday at 5 p.m.

The Tigers (0-2) return to action Wednesday evening at St. Martin’s Episcopal at 6 p.m.
