Soccer: Newman boys, girls victorious over East Jeff

It was a good day for Newman soccer at Michael Lupin Field Wednesday as the Greenie boys and girls were both victorious over East Jefferson.

In boys action, it was a battle of third-ranked teams as the Greenies (Division IV) blanked the Warriors (Division II) 3-0. Newman scored all three of its goals in the first half on goals by Sam Moses, Chris Brubacher and Jack Chawla. The Greenies improved to 7-2 with the win while the Warriors fell to 7-5 with the loss.

In girls action, Newman remained unbeaten (5-0-1) with a 2-0 victory over eighth-ranked Archbishop Hannan (Division III). The Hawks fell to 6-3-2 with the defeat.
