Recruiting: St. Augustine WR Karaaz Johnson commits to Nicholls
St. Augustine’s Karaaz Johnson committed Wednesday to Nicholls. You may not find the diminutive receiver high on a lot of recruiting lists but the 5-foot-9, 155 pounder has something that jumps off of the tape.
In 10 regular season games, Johnson finished the 2022 campaign as the 11th best receiver in the metro area with 28 catches for 536 yards (19.1 yard average) and seven touchdowns.

Johnson plays with a lot of heart, giving his all when he steps between the stripes. He can take the top off of a defense, find the crease in the secondary from the slot and secure throws with rare drops. Johnson’s great burst off the line of scrimmage alarms defenses.
Offers from Kansas, Marshall, Florida International, Memphis, Akron, UAB, Incarnate Word, Northern Arizona, Charlotte, Campbell, Northwestern State and Southern show Johnson’s value and make him a great get for the Colonels. He holds a 4.5 GPA at St. Augustine.
