MCA, Dominican soccer quarterfinal matches live on Crescent City Sports this evening

This evening, eight area teams go after spots in the LHSAA state soccer semifinals, including a big girls Division I doubleheader at Pan American Stadium that can be seen live on Crescent City Sports.

In girls action in Division I, No. 2 Mount Carmel Academy (19-3-3) hosts No. 7 Central Lafourche (21-5-3) at 5 p.m., the first of two games at Pan American Stadium to air live on CCS.

The Cubs advanced with a 2-0 victory over No. 18 Baton Rouge while the Trojans downed No. 23 Barbe 3-1.

Mount Carmel has won six state titles, including in 2001, 2002, 2005, 2012, 2016, 2017 and reached the final in Division I in 2010 and 2015.

Also in Division I, three-time state champion and No. 4 Dominican (18-1-8) entertains No. 5 St. Joseph’s Academy (16-5-5) at Pan American Stadium at 7 p.m.

Dominican advanced with a 3-0 shutout of No. 13 Fontainebleau while the Redstickers wiped out No. 21 Destrehan 6-0 in the regional round.

Dominican defeated St. Joseph’s Academy 1-0 on Dec. 27 at the Lakeshore Tournament.

Dominican won Division I state championships in 2003, 2007 and 2011.

Also in Division I, No. 3 Mandeville (24-2-3) plays host to No. 6 Byrd (17-7-4). The Skippers knocked out 2-time defending Division I state champion and No. 14 seed St. Scholastica 2-1 in the regional round while the Yellow Jackets eliminated No. 11 St. Amant 4-1.

Mandeville reached the Division I final in 2004 while Byrd won the Division I state championship in 1996 and reached the Division I final in 2016.

In Division II, No. 4 Lakeshore (15-5-5) hosts four-time state champion and No. 5 Vandebilt Catholic (18-7-2) at 5 p.m.

The Titans advanced with a 3-1 victory over No. 13 Teurlings Catholic while the Terriers blanked No. 12 Belle Chasse 8-0.

Vandebilt Catholic won state titles in 2008, 2009, 2016 and 2017 and reached the Division II final in 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2018 and 2019.

Lakeshore won the Division II state championship in 2017 and reached the final in 2016.

Also in Division II, six-time state champion and No. 6 Ben Franklin (15-5-5) travels to Shreveport to battle No. 3 Caddo Magnet (16-4-4) at 5 p.m. at Lee Hedges Stadium.

The Falcons shutout No. 11 Sam Houston 5-0 while Caddo Magnet took out No. 19 Lee Magnet 3-1 in the regional round.

Ben Franklin won state championships in 2003, 2004, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and reached the final in 1995.

In Division III, No. 12 Haynes Academy plays host to three-time state champion and No. 4 St. Louis Catholic ( at 5 p.m. at Joe Yenni Stadium.

The Yellow Jackets advanced with a 4-2 victory at No. 5 St. Michael the Archangel while the Saints blanked No. 20 Lusher Charter 6-0.

The Saints won state championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

In Division IV, No. 9 McGehee (12-5-2) entertains No. 1 Houma Christian (20-2-1) at 5 p.m. at Tad Gormley Stadium.

Houma Christian drilled No. 16 Evangel Christian Academy 7-0 in the regional round while the Hawks edged No. 8 Episcopal of Acadiana 2-1.

Also in Division II, No. 4 Christ Episcopal (14-4) hosts No. 5 Grace Christian (19-4) at 5 p.m. Christ Episcopal edged No. 13 Academy of The Sacred Heart 2-1 while Grace Christian got by No. 12 Ascension Episcopal 1-0 in the regional round.

Traditional power and 9-time state champion No. 2 Newman (14-5-2) travels to No. 10 Pope John Paul II (12-6-2) at 6 p.m.

The Greenies advanced with a 5-1 win over No. 15 Country Day while the Jaguars blanked No. 7 Northlake Christian 3-0 in the regional round.

Newman captured state championships in 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and reached the final in 2003 and 2014.

The Jaguars won a state championship in 2014 and reached the final in 2015.

In boys Division IV action, No. 8 Pope John Paul II (18-8-4) travels to top-seeded Episcopal (13-4-3) at 6 p.m.

The Jaguars reached the quarterfinals with a 4-0 victory over No. 9 Country Day while Episcopal edged No. 17 Dunham 1-0.

The Knights reached the Division III final in 2017.
