K’s for Kids downs Courcelle Law in CCS Prep Summer League play Tuesday

While seven games were canceled or postponed due to rain and lightning issues Tuesday, one game was played and Brother Martin-based K’s for Kids bounced back from a rare loss with a wild 14-10 victory.

K’s for Kids led 3-1 after one inning on a 3-run homer by Kolby Hunter before scoring five runs in the second and four in the third to open up a 12-1 lead. Courcelle Law fought back, scoring five runs in the bottom of the third to make it 12-6.

The Crusaders made it 13-6 with a run in the fourth inning and the Cavaliers scored a run in the fifth to reduce the deficit to 13-7.

K’s for Kids scored its final run in the top of the sixth and Courcelle Law scored its final three runs in the seventh inning.

Hunter finished with four RBI, Austin Belle had two hits and drove in four runs and Jack Lupo went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Reece Roussel had two hits, including a double with two RBI, Ben Switzer had three hits and scored a run. Kaiden Timothy and Stan Wiltz each added an RBI.

Max Musso was the winning pitcher, going five innings, allowing four runs on three hits with six walks and four strikeouts.

Alton Shorts started and took the loss for Courcelle Law (3-5-1), which used five pitchers. Ty Poole doubled and drove in two runs, Noah Arrevalo had a hit and an RBI while Collier Crockett, Matt Bedi and Dylan Brisset, Troy Jones and Gavin Kimble each drove in a run for the Cavaliers.

K’s for Kids (6-2) remained in solid playoff contention with the win.
