Baseball: Lakeshore, Hahnville keep winning streaks going Friday

Area Prep Baseball Report for Saturday, March 26

A pair of teams heating up continued their hot streaks Friday.

Lakeshore downed St. Charles Catholic 5-1 at home.

The Titans scored a run in the bottom of the first before the Comets tied it with a run in the top of the second inning. Lakeshore came up with three runs in the bottom of the third for all they would need and added an insurance run in the fifth inning.

Dominick Letort led the Titans with two hits and two RBI while Gabe Dalton had a hit and drove in a pair of runs. Eli Lirette added a pair of hits for the Titans.

Ayden Authement had a pair of hits while Michael Hotard drove in the only run for St. Charles Catholic.

Morgan Sauber went the distance for the Titans, allowing just four hits while striking out three. Hotard went the distance and took the loss for the Comets, allowing eight hits with three strikeouts.

Lakeshore (12-5) won its third straight game and will host Maurepas this morning at 11 a.m. while St. Charles Catholic (13-7) saw its four-game win streak end and the Comets travel to St. Amant this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.

After a bit of a slow start to the season against a very tough schedule, Hahnville is heating up.

The Tigers rallied past East Ascension 4-3 at home Friday in a non-district contest.

Tied at two in the bottom of the sixth inning, Truman Moyer came up with the big hit, a two-run single, to provide the margin of victory.

Moyer, Jake Risinger and Talan Theriot each had a pair of hits for Hahnville.

The Spartans scored a run in the top of the seventh but fell short.

Noah Chauvin picked up the win for the Tigers.

Kane Sanchez and Petrie Thompson each drove in a run for the Spartans.

Hahnville (9-14) has won four straight and returns to District 7-5A play Thursday at East St. John at 4 p.m. East Ascension (6-13) travels to Catholic of Baton Rouge at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a District 6-5A contest.
