The quest for a 3-peat is alive and well for Warren Easton.

The sixth-seeded Lady Eagles staged a furious fourth quarter rally to upset No. 2 Huntington 65-62 to advance to the Class 4A state championship game at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles.

Things did not look good early for Easton as the Lady Raiders jumped out to a 23-14 lead after one quarter. The Lady Eagles cut into the deficit to trail 37-31 by halftime but Huntington maintained the lead 52-45 going into the final quarter.

That is when Warren Easton turned it on, outscoring the Lady Raiders 20-10 in the final frame for the victory.

Down the stretch, Kameryn Washington hit a pair of key free throws with eight seconds left to make it 65-62 before a long 3-point attempt failed by Huntington, securing the victory for the Lady Eagles.

Easton overcome a big deficit on the boards as Huntington had 48 rebounds to just 35 for the Lady Eagles. Turnovers were a huge factor as the Lady Raiders committed 30 while Warren Easton had 23.

Another factor was that Huntington did not make a 3-pointer as Easton outscored Huntington 18-0 beyond the arc.

Zacyria Dozier led four players in double figures for Warren Easton with 18 points while Skylar Davis had 13 points and eight rebounds. Breanna Sullon had 10 points and nine rebounds while Ta’Jae Wills contributed 10 points for the Lady Eagles.

Taylor Bell had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Huntington (31-3). Samantha Taylor scored 16 points and Chasity Taylor finished with 12 points.

Warren Easton (22-10) will meet the winner of Thursday night’s semifinal between No. 1 LaGrange and No. 4 Ellender on Saturday night at 8 p.m.
