New Mexico State takes rubber game over LA Tech, 12-6

LAS CRUCES, N.M.- Louisiana Tech drops the series against New Mexico State in Las Cruces. Louisiana Tech (35-15, 12-5 CUSA) falls 12-6 to New Mexico State (23-24, 9-12 CUSA) after the Aggies put up multiple home runs.

Tech allowed seven runs in the first two innings after New Mexico State batted in three home runs, making it a 7-0 game. In the third inning, Tech got on the board following an Ethan Bates sacrifice flyout RBI, forcing Dalton Davis to cross home plate. Next, in the fourth inning, Grant Comeaux cut the Aggies’ lead to four after he scored a two-run homer to left field.

In the fifth inning, Michael Ballard picked up two runs for the Bulldogs following his two-run home run, cutting the game to 7-5. However, New Mexico State answered with a homer from Damone Hale, extending their lead to 8-5.

Eventually, the Aggies put the game out of reach when they scored runs on a pair of RBI singles, a Logan Gallina RBI double, and to finish it off with a Romeo Ballesteros home run. However, Tech secured one more run after Ethan Bates picked up another RBI single that sent Kasten Furr home.

Louisiana Tech will have one last homestand against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in the Love Shack. The first pitch for the CUSA matchup will start at 6 PM and be televised on ESPN+.
