Volleyball: Pope John Paul II, John Curtis, Riverside Academy win Monday

Area Prep Volleyball Report for Tuesday, Oct. 25

Pope John Paul II handled Sarah T. Reed 25-5, 25-7, 25-5 in a District 5-IV contest Monday in New Orleans.

Chloe Smith led the attack with 14 kills, eight digs and three aces, Ali Tullis had 40 assists and three kills, Kayla Benedic had nine kills, nine digs and three aces and Gabby Beadette had eight kills and four digs.

The Jaguars (22-7, 4-0), second in the Division IV power ratings behind Newman, have won four straight matches and will host Pine today at 4:30 in district play.

The loss was the eighth straight for the Olympians (10-10, 0-4), who host Northlake Christian today at 5:30 p.m.

John Curtis Christian continued its last season surge, earning their eighth straight victory by downing Crescent City Christian 25-11, 25-9, 15-12 at home.

Jacke Melancon led John Curtis with 12 kills, Marissa Taix had four aces and 10 digs, Madison Laiche dished up 21 assists and Imani Daniel had three blocks.

Fourth in the most recent Division IV power ratings, John Curtis (26-8) will host Assumption Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Pioneers (12-13) will play their final regular season match today at home against First Baptist Christian at 4:30 p.m. in a District 7-V contest.

Riverside Academy is getting hot at the right time. The Rebels made it five straight wins and 10 of 11 with a 26-24, 25-20, 27-25 win over South Lafourche at Reserve.

Myracle Revon led the attack with 13 kills, four digs and an assist.

Riverside (17-13) was ninth in the most recent LHSAA Division V power ratings but should move up. The Rebels will play a good power points match against a very highly ranked Division I team at Chalmette Wednesday at 4:30 in their final regular season match.
