USFL hires John DeFilippo as New Orleans Breakers Head Coach

John DeFilippo

The New Orleans Breakers of the USFL have named John DeFilippo as their new head coach.

DeFilippo, 44, replaces Larry Fedora, who stepped down after the 2022 season.

A native of Youngstown, Ohio, DeFilippo played college football at James Madison and he has a long and impressive resume with NFL experience.

DeFilippo served as quarterbacks coach for the New York Giants (2005-06), the Oakland Raiders (2007-08), Philadelphia Eagles (2016-17) and Chicago Bears (2020-21).

DeFilippo served as offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns (2015) and Minnesota Vikings (2018) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2019).

DeFilippo was part of a Super Bowl championship staff with the Eagles in 2017.

DeFilippo also served as assistant quarterbacks coach with the New York Jets (2009).

Fedora led the Breakers to a 6-5 record and a playoff appearance in the inaugural season of the league.
