The game pitting Sulphur at Notre Dame scheduled for Thursday evening in Crowley has been canceled due to COVID-19 protocols with the Sulphur program.

As a result, Notre Dame gets the victory by forfeit, based on LHSAA rules put in place for this season.

“No one wants to get a win this way,” Notre Dame Lewis Cook said. “We would prefer to play someone and it is a loss financially with what have been a big turnout. It has already been a strange year. We had a two-hour delay for our game with Southside last week. Last year was tough and it has continued.”

Sulphur defeated Pineville 21-13 while Notre Dame defeated Southside 26-14 last Thursday night.

Sulphur will next host Iowa while Notre Dame will entertain Comeaux for Homecoming on Friday, Sept. 17. There were efforts to move the game to Saturday, Sept. 18 but Iowa could not do so with a Thursday night game scheduled the following week.
