Softball Report: Coming off shutout of Patrick Taylor, Ehret faces Higgins in Wednesday action

John Ehret blanked Patrick Taylor 10-0 at home on Tuesday in Marrero.

Selena Parks pitched six shutout innings with eight strikeouts for the Lady Patriots. Ehret scored a run in the second on a passed ball to take a 1-0 lead and grew the lead to 2-0 in the third. The Lady Patriots broke it open with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on four hits a walk and an error to make it 9-0. Ehret finished it off with a run in the sixth inning.

Kelsey Leviere struck the big blow in the fourth inning with a two-run double while Erica Adams also doubled in the decisive inning.

“We talked about doing our jobs and focusing on making the plays we are supposed to make and we went out and played solid defense,” said Ehret head coach Sheena Smith. “We hit the ball well against a quality pitcher. I was very pleased with the effort and performance.”

The Lady Patriots (3-7) open District 8-5A play today at 4 p.m. against Higgins (6-4) at Avondale Playground. The game was originally slated for Monday but was postponed until today due to wet field conditions. The Lady Hurricanes lost to Thomas Jefferson 12-1 Tuesday. Higgins has an excellent hitter in senior Meagan LeBlanc.
