When the Green Bay Packers decided to spend big money to add tight end Jimmy Graham and defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson as free agents, they beat the New Orleans Saints to the punch.

In doing so, Green Bay also chose to cut ties with wide receiver Jordy Nelson. The Saints may try to take advantage, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter:

Nelson, who refused to take a pay cut in Green Bay, has drawn enough interest to expect a decent new contract. But the Saints need Nelson to finish two visits before meeting with veteran who turns 33 in late May.

The 2017 season saw a downturn in Nelson’s production. He finished with 53 catches for 482 yards and six touchdowns on the heels of an impressive comeback season in 2016 after missing the previous year due to an ACL tear.
