Softball Playoffs: Hahnville advances with convincing win over Ouachita Parish
Hahnville easily advanced to the regional round of the Class 5A softball playoffs as the 10th-seeded Lady Tigers handled No. 23 Ouachita Parish 11-1 at home in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule Monday.
Laney Waguespack stole the show.
Waguespack picked up the win, going four innings, allowing a run on two hits, striking out six.
At the plate, Waguespack helped herself in huge fashion, going 4 for 4 with a three-run home run and drove in five runs.
Hahnville took a 3-0 lead after one inning and added three more in the second to lead 6-0.
Sara Roussel and Laura Crochet each added a pair of hits for Hahnville while Adeline Bertrand had a two-run triple and Katie Ortego added a two-run single.
Chesni Ashley drove in the only run for the Lady Lions with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning.
Hahnville (22-10) will travel to No. 7 Live Oak in the regional round. Live Oak eliminated No. 26 Fontainebleau 10-0 in five innings as Kaylee Chandler pitched a three-hit shutout.
