Softball: Mandeville opens season with win over Holden

Area Prep Softball Report for Thursday, Feb. 17

In its season opener for both teams, Mandeville defeated defending Class B state champion Holden 4-2 at home Wednesday.

Each team scored a run in the second inning before the Lady Skippers scored twice in the bottom of the third to take a 3-1 lead. Each team added a run in the fifth inning.

Ashley Delorimier and Talia Travis each drove in a run for Mandeville while Reina Keys and Kylee Dulyea each produced a pair of hits.

Hailey Marange went six and two-thirds innings to pick up the win, allowing seven hits while striking out five.

Taylor Douglas took the loss for Holden.

Mandeville opens District 6-5A play next Tuesday at Northshore at 3 p.m. while Holden will also return to action next Tuesday at Catholic Pointe Coupee at 5 p.m.
