Softball: Kenner Discovery, Hahnville with wins Thursday

Area Prep Softball Report for Friday, March 4

Kenner Discovery won 12-5 at Ellender in eight innings.

Each team scored a pair of runs in the first inning before the Swamp Owls scored three runs in the top of the second to take a 5-2 lead. The Patriots tied it with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

In the top of the eighth, Ellender broke it open, scoring seven runs.

Senior Alyssa Duhe had three hits and three RBI while seventh grade stars Lundyn Allen and Kodi Ricks came up big. Allen had two hits and three RBI while Ricks had had three hits and two RBI. Sophomore Emmi Guidroz had two hits and two RBI. Freshman Brinley Miller and junior Camryn Johnson each had two hits.

Kenner Discovery (4-3-1) has won three straight games and the Swamp Owls will play at East Jefferson Saturday at 10 a.m. The Patriots (1-11) return to action Monday, hosting Covenant Christian at 3:30 p.m.

Hahnville handled Vandebilt Catholic 13-2.

Avery Edgar ended it with a walk-off home run and finished with two hits and four RBI. Brazzi Jacobs had two hits and two RBI, Laney Waguespack had two hits and an RBI while Sara Roussel had two hits. Mackenzie Kliebert picked up the win, striking out five.

Hahnville (6-5) has won three straight games and will play at Archbishop Hannan next Tuesday.

The Terriers (5-2) saw their five-game win streak snapped and will host Central Catholic next Wednesday.
