Loyola set to host men’s, women’s NAIA Opening Rounds at Devlin

NEW ORLEANS – The NAIA National Championship brackets are set.

The Loyola Wolf Pack men’s basketball team earned a No. 1 seed in the national tournament after turning in a 31-1 overall record this season with the Southern States Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament titles.

The Wolf Pack women’s basketball team finished the season 22-5 overall and they also won the SSAC regular-season and tournament championships. They were tabbed a No. 6 seed in the NAIA National Championship tournament.

Loyola was selected as a host for the NAIA National Championship Opening Rounds, so the first two rounds of the tournament will be played at Tulane’s Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse Friday, March 11, and Saturday, March 12.

COVID guidelines per the city of New Orleans, Loyola, and Tulane (as of March 2, 2022)

In line with the city of New Orleans guidelines, Tulane & Loyola Athletics will require proof of documentation of full COVID-19 vaccination (two doses of a two-dose vaccine series (e.g. Pfizer, Moderna), or one dose of a one-dose vaccine series (J&J) or a negative COVID-19 PCR/antigen test within 72 hours for all attendees over the age of five (5) to all Athletic events.

Valid Documentation:

  • Proof of Vaccination – This includes your state’s verification app showing proof of vaccine (ex. LA Wallet), an original CDC vaccination card, digital photo or photocopy of a CDC vaccination card (both sides), or an official vaccine record issued by another state, foreign nation or the WHO.

OR

  • Negative PCR or Antigen Test – Paper or digital test results from a COVID-19 test showing a negative result within the past 72 hours

Also in line with Tulane & Loyola guidelines, masks are required to be worn at all times during indoor events unless fans are actively eating or drinking.

Friday‘s games will be split into two sessions and will allow fans the opportunity to view more than 1 game. The 1:00/3:00 PM games will be sold as session 1 and the 5:30/7:30 games will be sold as session 2. Please be aware of the session number when purchasing tickets for that day.

In accordance with NAIA regulations, there are no pass lists for the Opening Round. The chief executive officers of the participating institutions are provided two complimentary tickets to each game. No other complimentary tickets should be issued to either participating institution. NAIA members shall receive one complimentary ticket upon presentation of the NAIA card and appropriate identification. All cards are non-transferable.

Tulane Athletics has a Clear Bag/No Bag policy for all athletic venues. The clear bag policy is in effect for the NAIA Opening Round Tournament to speed up gate entry times and enhance the safety for all our fans.

The Devlin Fieldhouse address is 6811 Freret St. New Orleans, LA 70118.

Parking / Drop Off Area

Vans/Team Buses should be parked in the Mercy Lot located next to the Freret Street parking garage on Loyola’s campus. Teams can be dropped off either in front of Devlin or in the Mercy Lot and walk across the street to Devlin Fieldhouse. All spectator parking will be located in the Freret Street Parking Garage on Loyola’s campus FREE OF CHARGE.

BROADCASTING

All games of the New Orleans Bracket of the NAIA Baseball National Championship will be broadcast live. Each broadcast will include audio commentary with the video stream. The broadcast of any tournament game via radio, television or online is governed by NAIA broadcasting policies as printed in the NAIA Handbook.

Live stats will be provided throughout the tournament via Prestostats.

Restrooms / Concessions

There are restroom facilities and concessions located on the ground floor of Devlin Fieldhouse facility upon entry. The concession stands accept card payments only (Tulane has moved to cashless transactions).

ADA Seating

ADA Courtside Seating is available in the facility on each end of the court. Additional seating/companion seating is available on the first row of bleachers directly behind courtside seats. There is a ramp to enter the facility located to the left of the main ticket window with security/staff to assist if needed.

Tobacco and Alcohol Products

All tobacco and alcohol products are prohibited, including cigarettes, snuff, electronic smoking

devices, and chewing tobacco. The NAIA ejection/suspension policy will also be applied for athletes/coaches/personnel who are ejected for violating the tobacco rule. Enforcement of this rule will lie with the ‘game umpires’ and the Host Site Coordinator. No alcoholic beverages in any form shall be allowed to be sold, dispersed or consumed under any circumstances.

Pets

There are no pets allowed at Devlin Fieldhouse – ONLY service dogs are allowed in the facility. Tulane’s Athletics Facilities, does have signage that corresponds with this requirement stating “No Dogs” allowed in the facility.

A service dog is a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability. According to the law we may ask if the dog is required because of a disability and what work or task the animal has been trained to perform.

DIRECTIONS

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport is located just over 14 miles, using Interstate 10 E, from Devlin Fieldhouse. It is advised that you monitor the latest traffic conditions upon arrival to New Orleans for the fastest route to the facility, as rush hour conditions are often very slow-moving through the city and surrounding areas.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Devlin Fieldhouse is located at  6811 Freret St. New Orleans, LA 70118. Loyola’s USC is 200 yards east of Devlin (across the street from Tulane’s Law School).

From the West (Airport, Metairie, Kenner)

  • Exit I-10 E at the Airline/Tulane/Carrollton exit and follow signs to South Carrollton Avenue
  • Remain on Carrollton five traffic signals to South Claiborne Avenue and continue past Claiborne to the first u-tern
  • Make the u-turn and turn right on Claiborne
  • Remain on Claiborne one traffics signal to Broadway Street and turn right
  • Remain on Broadway two signals to Freret Street and turn left
  • Once getting into the campus area, Devlin Fieldhouse is the third building on the left

From the East (Downtown, French Quarter, Slidell)

Exit I-10 W at US 90/South Claiborne Avenue (which exits left off the interstate)

  • Remain on Claiborne seven traffic signals to Nashville Avenue and turn left
  • Stay on Nashville one traffic signal to Freret Street and turn right
  • Devlin Fieldhouse is on the right and the first building past the third traffic signal
