Softball: Hahnville, Slidell, St. Charles Catholic among Wednesday winners

Area Prep Softball Report for Thursday, March 7

Hahnville whipped Acadiana 13-3 at home in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

After taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third, the Tigers saw the Wreckin’ Rams score three runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead. Hahnville scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth and ended it with five runs in the fifth inning.

Jordyn Chaix and Brazzi Jacob each had two hits, homered and drove in four runs to pace a 14-hit attack. Amberly Dempster was 4-for-4 with an RBI and Morgan DeJean had a hit and two RBI. Kloe White went the distance to pick up the win, allowing three runs on six hits. White walked two and struck out five.

Hahnville (7-5) will host Dominican today at 4 p.m.

Slidell won its eighth straight game, winning 10-0 at Holden in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

The Tigers scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings and broke it open with seven runs in the fifth inning.

Camille Boudreaux had two hits, including a home run, double and three RBI, Hollie Flower produced two doubles and two RBI while Emma Whittington had three hits, including two doubles with an RBI. Kyleigh Ardoin added a hit and an RBI. Bree McCleary pitched four innings, allowing no runs on three hits with a walk and six strikeouts to pick up the win. Baily Mackles pitched the final scoreless inning.

Slidell (12-3) returns to action Friday at 5 p.m. at Chalmette.

The Rockets (2-7) return to action against Quitman Saturday at 11 a.m.

St. Charles Catholic handled Pope John Paul II 10-3 at home.

Kamryn Cancienne was the primary force. Cancienne pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts to pick up the win and she added two hits and three RBI. Aliyah Manson had three hits and two RBI and Mia Ganote added three hits for the Comets.

St. Charles Catholic (6-2) will play at E.D. White Catholic next Tuesday.

The Jaguars (4-6) travel to Lakeshore Friday at 4:30 p.m.
