DIVISION I   |   DIVISION II   |   DIVISION III  |   DIVISION IV

The New Orleans area will have three out of four teams in the Division II semifinals and nearly had all four teams.

No. 1 Ben Franklin shut out No. 8 Neville 3-0 at home in the quarterfinals Tuesday.

The Falcons were on fire early, scoring all three goals in the first half.

Ben Franklin jumped on top immediately as Jacob Chapital scored just one minute in off a rebound. Chapital’s first shot on goal was not handled cleanly by the Tigers keeper and Chapital put the rebound in from about 12 yards out.

In the 23rd minute, Jameson Young scored on a cross from Jarred Oglesby to make it 2-0 before Chapital scored his second goal on a long throw-in from Braylen Burrell to complete the scoring.

“We started off really well scoring early goals which set the tone for the rest of the match,” Ben Franklin coach Jose Ferrand said. “ I give credit to Neville for putting up a fight throughout the game but I’m really proud of our guys for staying strong and not allowing Neville to score which is a testament of our defense throughout the year.”

Ben Franklin (19-3-3) advances to the semifinals to host No. 4 seed East Jefferson Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The other semifinal will pit No. 3 Archbishop Rummel at St. Thomas More, most likely Friday.

The Cougars edged No. 7 Grace King 1-0 in Lafayette.

In the Division IV quarterfinals, No. 1 Newman handled No. 8 Country Day 5-1 at Lupin Field.

It was a two-man show for the Greenies as Cole Spady recorded a hat trick while George Villere scored the other two goals.

Spady scored the first two goals in the first half before Lance Hebert scored for the Cajuns to make it 2-1.

Spady then scored his third goal to make it 3-1 before Villere scored twice to account for the final margin.

Newman (20-2-4) advances to the semifinals to host No. 5 Episcopal Friday at 6:30 p.m.

In Division I, it will be a district rematch of District 5-I powers when No. 2 St. Paul’s (17-1-4) hosts No. 3 Mandeville in the semifinals.

The Skippers (23-2-5) advanced with a 2-1 victory at home over Jesuit.

Dom Zapata scored the winning goal late on off a corner kick to break a 1-1 tie.

James Waguespack put Jesuit (15-5-4) on top with an early goal in the first half before the Skippers got the equalizer on a goal by Merritt Sweeney and it was even at halftime.

In girls Division II action, No. 2 Lakeshore blanked No. 7 Terrebonne 3-0 to advance to the semifinals.

Eila Panzeca and Charlotte Sampey each scored a goal in the first half before Meredith Busque added the final goal in the second half.

The Titans (17-8-5) will host No. 3 Teurlings Catholic in the semifinals after the Rebels downed No. 6 Neville 4-1.
