Slidell, Hammond, Newman boys; MCA, Ursuline girls roll to Monday wins

In boys action Monday, Slidell went to the Bear Trap and not only emerged victorious but did so in dominating fashion, beating a good Bonnabel team handily, 78-53.
The Tigers had four players in double figures.
Junior Micah Willis led the way with 23 points and seven rebounds, junior James Parlow had 19 points and three steals, senior Cooper Rachaw finished with 16 points and senior Lorenzo Caldwell had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Louisiana Tech signee Will Allen topped the Bruins, who were coming off of a big weekend out-of-state tournament championship, with 37 points while Nomar Dijol had seven points.
Slidell (6-3) will next play at Helen Cox Saturday at 7 p.m. while Bonnabel (8-3) returns to action Thursday evening at the East Ascension Tournament against Istrouma at 5:50 p.m.
In boys action, Hammond downed Houma Christian 55-39 in Houma.
The Tornadoes jumped out to a commanding 18-5 lead after one quarter and maintained that margin throughout.
It was 33-20 at halftime and 46-30 after three quarters.
Senior Jarvis Earlycutt led Hammond with 21 points while senior Terrance Selders finished with 12 points for the Tornadoes.
Junior Connor Smith led the Warriors with 21 points and senior Culan Hendricks finished with 12 points.
Hammond (3-2) has now won three straight games and the Tornadoes will travel to White Castle this evening at 6:30 p.m. while Houma Christian (0-3) will play Wednesday at Central Lafourche at 6 p.m.
Newman remained unbeaten with a 73-50 victory at home over West Jefferson.
Sophomore Chris Lockett continued to impress, scoring 29 points, pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out six assists while sophomore Canin Jefferson had 24 points, including four 3-pointers, and had three steals. Freshman Chris Leman had 12 points and freshman Todd Jones had eight points, 12 rebounds and five blocks.
Newman (6-0) will host Karr Thursday at 7 p.m. while West Jefferson (2-7), which has lost six straight games, faces another tough test Thursday at defending Division IV state champion Crescent City Christian at 6 p.m.
In girls action, Mount Carmel Academy continues to impress. The Cubs remained unbeaten with a solid 54-36 victory at John F. Kennedy.
Taylor Wilkins was superb, pumping in 30 points, including five 3-pointers. Jessica Runnels had 11 points, including a trio of 3-pointers and Taylor Haggard added six points.
Mount Carmel (8-0) will return to action Friday, hosting Loranger at 6 p.m. while the Cougars (3-3) will host New Orleans Science & Math Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
Ursuline Academy downed East St. John 52-33.
Senior Tyrielle Williams was superb for the Lions, scoring 26 points. Leah Hines and sophomore Sophia McClean each chipped in with eight points.
Ursuline (6-2) has now won three straight games. The Lions return to action Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Warren Easton while the Wildcats (4-3) saw their four-game win streak snapped and will next travel to Karr Thursday at 6 p.m.
