Santana Price

McDonogh 35 senior quarterback Santana Price has been selected as the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club, Crescent City Sports, NASH ICON 106.1 FM and Friday Night Football Prep Player of the Week for week 12 of the prep football season, sponsored by the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

Price completed 13-of-18 passes for 175 yards and four touchdowns and rushed 11 times for 180 yards and a touchdown and added a 2-point conversion as No. 11 McDonogh 35 upset No. 6 St. Louis Catholic 53-23 on the road in the Select Division II regional round of the LHSAA playoffs.

Price is coached by Frank Daggs.

“Santana is a great player who does remarkable things on the field,” Daggs said. “He leads us the right way. We will go as far as he can take us. He throws it very well but he can escape and make huge plays with his legs. He is a track star. With the combination of speed and throwing ability, he is up there with anyone I have coached. He knows what we need and does it on a regular basis.”

The next meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club is Tuesday, December 12 at noon at The Cannery, honoring all prep players of the week, along with the team of the year, coach of the year and player of the year.

The second annual Baseball Bash, featuring LSU coach Jay Johnson, among all other local college and junior college head coaches, is set for Monday, Jan. 22 at noon at The Cannery.

To purchase tickets, call (504) 908-6080 or e-mail Stan Kottemann at skotlaw@aol.com.
