Recruiting: Booker T. Washington WR Tyrese Johnson commits to Memphis

KIPP Booker T. Washington talented multi-sport star Tyrese Johnson declared Thursday for the Memphis Tigers, becoming the fifth Pelican State product to be a member of the 15 player 2021 potential signing class.

Previously committed July 20 to Arizona, Washington backed off following the dismissal of Wildcats head coach Kevin Sumlin.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound wideout lined up at quarterback for the Lions much of this past season, although his future is at receiver. Washington is also skilled enough to have drawn basketball offers from Georgetown, UAB and Stephen F. Austin.

A very physical receiver, Washington is highly athletic and an intense competitor. He is the seventh ranked receiver in the state and the 16th overall prospect for ’21 according to 247 Sports.
