The four-star talent out of Eagles Landing Christian in McDonogh, Georgia held a bevy of offers but paired his final list to LSU, Michigan, Georgia, Ole Miss. Auburn, Florida State and Florida A&M. In particular, Michigan made a very late push to secure him but LSU has led throughout the recruiting process. He was expected to wait until the February period to make his decision so the early commitment was a coup for the Tigers.
The 6-5, 300-pound Chester made visits to Michigan (Oct. 29), Florida State (Oct. 15), Ole Miss (Oct. 1) and Auburn (Sept. 17). He took his official visit to June 17 to Baton Rouge. LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis along with J.R. Belton, the LSU Director of Recruiting, were instrumental in the process.
Chester displays good reach, consistent effort with violence and quick feet. He drives his opponent, pulls well when asked and reaches the second level to block downfield. Chester has good hand placement when engaging with defenders.
As a sophomore, he won the Georgia Class A State shot put and discus competitions. He also plays basketball.
Chester has played offensive tackle it it remains to be seen when his future lies since some analysts think he’d be better at guard or center.
