Prep Soccer Playoffs: STA hosts Christ Episcopal boys, Mandeville, SSA, Hannan girls in regional action

Boys regional soccer playoff action begins Monday with two Division IV matches.

In Baton Rouge, seventh-seed Dunham (9-7-3) entertains 10th-seeded Sterlington (14-9-2) at 6 p.m. The Tigers had a first-round bye while the Panthers dumped 23rd-seed Calvary Baptist 3-1.

At Hammond, fifth-seed St. Thomas Aquinas (11-7-5) plays host to District 5-IV rival and 12th-seeded Christ Episcopal (9-4-5) at 5 p.m.

The Falcons whipped the 4-0 at home on Jan. 12. St. Thomas Aquinas had a first-round bye while the Wildcats defeated 21st-seed Rapides 4-1.

Three girls teams from the north shore are in action in regional play.

In Division I, eighth-seed Mandeville (17-5) hosts ninth-seed Lafayette (14-5-3) at 6 p.m. The Skippers enjoyed a first-round bye while the Lions crushed 24th-seed Pineville 8-0.

Third-seed St. Scholastica (16-1-3) entertains 19th-seeded Denham Springs (11-6-2) at 6:30 p.m. The Doves enjoyed a first-round bye while the Yellow Jackets upset 14th-seed Captain Shreve 4-3 on the road in the opening round.

In Division III, seventh-seed Archbishop Hannan (12-6-3) welcomes 10th-seed Cecilia (10-4-2) at 6 p.m. The Hawks had a first-round bye while the Bulldogs blanked 23rd-seed Cabrini 2-0.
