A battle of proud New Orleans public school programs with rich football traditions at Pan American Stadium highlights the Thursday schedule in the New Orleans area.

McDonogh 35 takes on Carver at 7 p.m. in the LHSAA Game of the Week. You can watch it live at CrescentCitySports.com and via the LHSAA App.

The Rams rebounded from a tough 10-0 loss to Brother Martin with a big 36-30 win over John Ehret last week.

In that victory, the Rams recorded seven sacks, led by Kansas commit Khari Coleman, who forced and recovered a fumble and returned it 33 yards for a touchdown against the Patriots. Coleman forced a second fumble, which he recovered. Coleman also recorded a sack.

Offensively, quarterback Quincy Curry had a nine-yard touchdown run and he threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Deloyd Lewis. Randolph Armstead had a 34-yard touchdown run.

Special teams came up huge in the victory as Lynarise Elphaege returned a kickoff 81 yards for a score and Gary Blake kicked a 43-yard field goal for the Rams.

Carver (2-1) has also beaten St. Amant 35-27.

Armstead scored a pair of touchdowns in that victory while Curry ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more in that win.

McDonogh 35 (0-3) has played competitive against tough competition.

The Roneagles lost 24-13 to St. Augustine, fell 34-14 to Karr and let a two-score lead evaporate in a 30-29 loss at Thibodaux a week ago.

Senior quarterback Manuel Armstrong has completed 31-of-54 passes for 525 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. He was 12-of-18 for 239 yards and two scores at Thibodaux. Senior Steveland Williams is the leading rusher with 40 carries for 225 yards and three touchdowns and had a 52-yard touchdown reception against Thibodaux.

Junior linebacker David Ellis returned a fumble for a touchdown against Thibodaux while junior Jamarian Henderson is an outstanding defensive back for the Roneagles.

Carver shutout the Roneagles 28-0 a year ago. McDonogh 35 won 24-0 over the Rams in 2016 and won 27-20 in 2015.
