Ken Berthelot to speak Wednesday at Life Resources Bottom Line Luncheon

Long-time sports media personality Ken Berthelot will share at the weekly Life Resources Bottom Line Luncheon on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at noon at Piccadilly Cafeteria, 2222 Clearview Parkway in Metairie.

Berthelot currently does play-by-play for high school and college games on CrescentCitySports.com and Cox Sports Television.

Ken BerthelotPreviously, Berthelot was the Director of Sports Programming and an Account Executive for WHNO-TV, doing game broadcasts and hosting shows.

Berthelot worked as the Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs and the Director of Development for the Nicholls State University Athletics Department. Ken also directed Colonel Athletics broadcast services and served as the radio voice of Nicholls State football and the television voice for all Nicholls televised games on WHNO-TV.

Prior to joining Nicholls, Ken was the Director of Training for Paul Phillips & Associates, the licensee for Dale Carnegie Training of most of Louisiana and Mississippi. Ken continues to serve as an adjunct instructor for the Dale Carnegie programs.

Ken spent 15 years at Tulane University as an Assistant Athletics Director and was the radio “Voice of the Green Wave” where he broadcast Tulane football, basketball, and baseball games. Berthelot oversaw all Tulane Broadcast Properties and hosted the head coaches’ radio and television weekly shows. Ken was the coordinator for the athletics booster clubs. Berthelot received the Billy Slatten Award from Tulane this year, given annually to someone who has given extraordinary service, commitment and support to Tulane University and its student-athletes.

Prior to Tulane, Berthelot spent 15 years as a television sportscaster anchoring the Live-at-Five weekday sports for WVUE-TV, New Orleans. He has broadcast games on radio and television for the University of New Orleans, Nicholls State, Louisiana College, the New Orleans Zephyrs triple-A baseball team, and numerous high school sports. After graduating from Louisiana Tech University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree, Ken began a career in broadcasting at stations in Thibodaux, Houma, and Alexandria, Louisiana.

Berthelot was inducted into the class of 2007 St. Bernard Parish Athletics and Sports Hall of Fame. He was honored three-time as Best Play-by-Play Sportscaster by The Louisiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association and was the 2001 American Football Foundation’s Regional Lindsey Nelson Sportscaster of the Year. He is a member of the Allstate Sugar Bowl’s Greater New Orleans Hall-of-Fame committee and is a motivational speaker for clubs and organizations.

Berthelot and his wife of four decades, Karen Theresa Fanguy from Houma, LA have three children, and four grandchildren.
