Jesuit, Holy Cross still on top in latest state soccer polls

Defending state champions Jesuit and Holy Cross remain on top in the latest Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association poll released Monday.

The Blue Jays (9-0-2) received nine of 10 first place votes to easily top St. Paul’s, who got the other first place vote. Northshore is third with Catholic of Baton Rouge fourth and St. Amant fifth.

Holy Cross (7-1) remains on top in Division II, receiving eight first place votes. St. Thomas More received the other two first place votes and the Cougars are second with East Jefferson third, Lakeshore fourth and Beau Chene fifth. Riverdale is now 10th.

University High (5-1-1) narrowly claims the top spot in Division III. The Cubs received four first place votes and edged out St. Louis Catholic by a point for first. The Saints got five first place votes. Unbeaten Teurlings Catholic is third and received the final first place vote. E.D. White Catholic is fourth with Loyola Prep fifth.

Episcopal of Acadiana (8-0-2) is the unanimous choice for No. 1 in Division IV with Newman second and Episcopal third. Northlake Christian is fourth and Catholic of New Iberia is fifth. Pope John Paul II is seventh, St. Thomas Aquinas is eighth, Country Day is ninth and Christ Episcopal is in a No. 10.
