It may not be as prominent as it has been in the past but there is still some value to winning the Catholic League District Wrestling title.

Holy Cross, one of the top two teams in the state in Division I, chose not to participate and Archbishop Shaw dropped out a year ago, leaving just four schools to compete and one, St. Augustine, who entered just one wrestler in Tylan Watts.

Defending Division I state champion Jesuit remains the favorite to repeat in Bossier City in two weeks.

The Blue Jays won the district title Saturday at Archbishop Rummel, defeating Brother Martin 41-32 for the championship.

The win ended a streak for the Crusaders, who had won the district meet annually since 2018.

Jesuit won six of the 10 matches contested.

Scoring falls for the Blue Jays were JP Webre (132), Arthur Schott (175), Jackson Calderaro (215) and Spencer Lanosga (285).

Winning by pin for the Crusaders were Richie Clementi (138), Jacob Elsensohn (144) and Rory Horvath (165).

In its other match, Jesuit downed Rummel 58-20.

The Blue Jays won six of the 10 matches contested.

Scoring falls for Jesuit were Isaac Orillion (144), Harris Treuting (165), Patrick Matthews (175), Cameron Himel (190) and Calderaro (215).

Winning by pin for the Raiders were Kaiden Triche (126) and Cameron Gandolfi (157).

Brother Martin downed Rummel 51-18.

The Crusaders won six of nine matches contested.

Scoring falls for the Crusaders were Elsensohn (144), Horvath (165) and Ethan Simmons (215).

Winning by pin for the Raiders was Gandolfi (157).
