Girls Basketball: South Plaquemines handles Kenner Discovery

Area Girls Prep Basketball Report for Tuesday, Dec. 4

South Plaquemines went on the road to defeat Kenner Discovery 58-36 Monday to snap a four-game losing streak.

After the two sides were tied 6-6 after one quarter, the Hurricanes outscored the Swamp Owls 22-10 in the second quarter to take a 28-16 lead, a lead they would not relinquish.

It was 36-24 going to the fourth quarter and South Plaquemines put the game away, winning the final stanza 22-12 to pull away for the victory.

A pair of sophomores led the way for the Hurricanes (3-6) as Davion Phillips led the way with 13 points while Akhia Cross added 11 points.

South Plaquemines is back in action today at 5 p.m., hosting West Jefferson, while Kenner Discovery (0-4) returns to action next Monday at Grace King at 5 p.m.
