Daniel Luquet has resigned as head football coach at Hahnville, multiple sources told Crescent City Sports and the St. Charles Parish School Board later confirmed Friday.

Staff members and players were reportedly informed of Luquet’s decision Friday morning.

In confirming the resignation, school board spokesman Regina McMillan said in a statement: “This morning, Coach Daniel Luquet informed Hahnville High School’s football team and coaching staff that he has submitted his resignation as Hahnville’s Head Football Coach. The school system expresses its gratitude for the dedication, passion, and leadership Coach Luquet brought to the Hahnville High School football program and for the positive impact he has had on our student-athletes both on and off the field. Additionally, our community is a better place because of the countless hours Coach Luquet spent volunteering alongside his student-athletes.

“St. Charles Parish Public Schools acknowledges the importance of a strong coaching staff in shaping the experiences of student-athletes and contributing to the overall success of the school’s athletics. We are confident that Hahnville High School will be able to attract a diverse pool of qualified candidates interested in leading the football program into the future.”

Luquet went 19-18 in four years as head coach of the Tigers after previously serving as head coach at Woodlawn of Baton Rouge. Hahnville reached the playoffs in each of Luquet’s first three seasons but failed to make the Division I non-select playoffs this fall.

Hahnville was 3-6 this season against a challenging schedule that featured non-district games against Newman, Mandeville, Northshore and Lutcher, all of which won at least one playoff game this season.

The opening figures to be one of the most attractive in the state this year, thanks to facilities and a program that has great tradition, winning six state championships and reaching the Class 5A title game as recently as 2017.
