LSU’s depth on the offensive line thinned a bit Wednesday with the announcement that backup Mason Lunsford is retiring from football.

The 6-foot-7, 305-pound Lunsford played three seasons at Maryland prior to arriving at LSU in the transfer portal last spring. He started 26 games for the Terrapins but only appeared in six contests for the Tigers with no starts in 2023.

His departure marks the fourth by a Tigers offensive lineman with 2024 eligibility – Lunsford, center Charles Turner (to NFL Draft), Marlon Martinez (transfer to Mississippi State) and Lance Heard (currently in the transfer portal).

Ponchatoula High product Amorion Walker is leaving the National Champion Michigan Wolverines for Ole Miss as a transfer.

Walker (6-3, 180) has garnered attention as a two-way player for the Wolverines, listed on The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman’s “Freak List.” Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh referred to him as a “unicorn.” Walker played in seven contests for the Wolverines as a wide receiver and 6 as a defensive back but injuries impeded his progress in 2023.

It is thought that Lane Kiffin will utilize him on both sides of the ball for the Rebels.

Timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.4 at a camp in Tuscaloosa and boasting a 38″ vertical, Walker was timed last spring at 6.1 in the 3-cone drill and 3.89 in the second shuttle. Both of which would have been records at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

His uncle Reggie Walker played at Kansas State prior to two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

Former Archbishop Rummel star Donovan Kaufman is on the move once again. He seeks his third major college stop.

Kaufman (5-10, 204) spent a single season at Vanderbilt before transferring to Auburn where he has been a starter for the past three years as a safety and nickelback.

So far, he has totaled 125 career stops with 8.0 for loss, 2.0 sacks, six passes broken up, a pair of interceptions and six forced fumbles. He returned kicks at Vanderbilt.

During his time at Rummel, Kaufman accumulated 304 career tackles, eight interceptions, 23 sacks and 11 forced fumbles as a three-year starter. He was twice named All-Metro MVP, District MVP and All State in 2020. Kaufman was also named the Raiders Most Outstanding Player in their 2022 Division I Select state title game victory.
