Basketball: Riverside beats Sophie B. Wright, Karr tops rival Landry

Area Prep Basketball Report for Thursday, Jan. 7

In the opening round of the Riverside Academy tournament, the host Rebels downed Sophie B. Wright 73-65.

The game was tied 27-27 at halftime before Riverside took control.

Gage Larvadain led the way with 27 points, despite sitting for a while in foul trouble while Smajia McClendon finished with 20 points. David Reynaud finished with 11 points for the Rebels.

Today, Dunham faces Karr at 4 p.m. while at 5:30 p.m., Ponchatoula takes on Archbishop Hannan while Riverside (6-2) takes on Northshore at 7 p.m. The nightcap St. Thomas More taking on Country Day at 8:30 p.m.

A great rivalry was renewed as Karr defeated Landry 58-55.

Karr (6-6) led 32-19 at halftime but the Buccaneers

Devin Lewis led the Cougars with 22 points while Bennie Amos led Landry (6-8) with 26 points.
