Basketball: Hammond and Haynes boys, Mandeville girls with wins Friday
Area Prep Basketball Report for Saturday, Dec. 10
In boys prep basketball action Friday evening, Hammond hammered Franklinton 62-38.
Senior Zach Staten led the Tornadoes with 18 points, sophomore Justin Harland had 11 points and sophomore Edmond Weathersby scored 10 points.
Hammond (6-3) returns to action Monday, hosting Belaire at 7 p.m.
The Demons (4-8) will entertain Sarah T. Reed Monday at 5:0 p.m.
Haynes Academy won at Christ Episcopal 63-51.
Senior Julien Bourgeois was the star, pumping in 29 points for the Yellow Jackets.
Haynes (4-1) will host rival Thomas Jefferson Monday at 5:30 p.m.
Christ Episcopal (4-9) returns to action next Friday, hosting False River.
In girls action, Mandeville handled Lakeshore 54-28 at home.
Freshman Alana Benoit continued to shine and has a great future. Benoit scored 19 points, pulled down 12 rebounds, had four steals and three assists. Junior Jordyn Carter had 13 points, six steals and five rebounds and junior Saleigh Berry finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, five steals and three assists.
The Skippers (5-4) will travel to Covington next Thursday.
The Titans (2-6) will host Archbishop Hannan next Friday.
