Basketball: Graves scores 1,000th point as Ponchatoula downs Rummel; Ehret wins

The foundation is there for Ponchatoula to defend its Non-Select Division I state basketball championship.
It starts with Allen Graves.
Santa Clara commit Allen Graves dominated with 27 points and 15 rebounds and scored the 1,000th point of his career as Ponchatoula remained unbeaten, whipping Archbishop Rummel 71-56 at home Tuesday evening.
Taj Jackson had 16 points and Jeremiah Lewis added 12 points for the Green Wave.
Ponchatoula led 14-11 after one quarter and 40-27 at halftime. It was 58-35 heading to the fourth quarter.
Jamard Jones had 11 points and eight rebounds while TJ Duhe had 10 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Raiders.
The Green Wave (7-0) will play at De La Salle on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Rummel (5-5) will entertain Teurlings Catholic on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
John Ehret defeated M.L. King Charter 64-48.
Eddie McIntyre led a balanced attack for the Patriots with 10 points while Darnell O’Quinn had nine points. Keyan Israel finished with eight points and Ean Johnson had seven points and six rebounds. Frederick Moffett added seven points.
The Patriots (4-4) will travel to Fontainebleau Thursday while the Jaguars (2-5) will host St. Augustine Friday.
