They are winless no more.

Southern commit Genesis Prosper had two hits and three RBI and three pitchers combined to get the job done as St. Augustine downed Holy Cross 5-2 at Wesley Barrow Stadium.

The Purple Knights jumped on top with three runs in the bottom of the second inning on a two-run double by Ryan Stripling and an RBI double by Prosper before the Tigers cut the deficit to 3-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the third, scoring on a passed ball and on an RBI single by Colin Cure.

St. Aug answered with two in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run single by Prosper to secure the win.

St. Augustine (9-17, 1-6) will complete the series at Holy Cross (10-17, 2-5) Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Kenner Discovery put up six runs in the bottom of the second to cut the deficit to a run. The Tigers answered with three runs in the third and two more in the top of the fourth to take a 12-6 lead.

Kenner Discovery put up a run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 12-7 but Patrick Taylor got that run back in the top of the fifth to lead 13-7.

The Swamp Owls scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth but fell just short.

Kyle Smith had two hits and three RBI while Kincaid Hinyup had a hit and two RBI to lead Patrick Taylor. Gavin Gibson had two hits and an RBI.

Both teams return to action Tuesday.

The Tigers (10-10, 3-1) will host De La Salle at 4 p.m. in district play while the Swamp Owls (6-12, 2-4) will entertain Lusher Charter at 4 p.m. in a non-district contest.

In a non-district contest, Destrehan edged East Ascension 5-4 on an RBI single by Shane Lee in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off. Lee had two hits, as did John Carmichael and Jonah Haslauer.
