Baseball Report: Warren Easton, Riverdale win to continue quest for home playoff games

Area Prep Baseball Report for Tuesday, April 10

Warren Easton continues to be a good story.

Ranked 17th in the most recent LHSAA Class 4A power rankings, the Eagles are looking to move up to get a first-round home series in the playoffs. They took a step forward Monday.

The Eagles (19-7) made it seven straight wins with a 10-0 victory over West St. John at Edgard.

Lovell Oatis pitched the shutout, striking out eight Rams. The Eagles stay in St. John Parish, on the other side of the River, when they travel to Reserve to take on East St. John Thursday at 4 p.m. in a non-district contest. West St. John (5-10) lost its third straight game. The Rams return to District 8-1A action against St. Martin’s Episcopal today at 4 p.m. at Mike Miley Stadium in Metairie.

Riverdale continued to roll as well, downing Carver 13-0 in District 10-4A action for its sixth consecutive victory.
Kyle Collet hurled the shutout, striking out 13 Rams to pick up the win for the Rebels (15-6, 5-0). Rensuke Higashihama had three hits and drove in five runs for Riverdale, ranked 13th in the most recent LHSAA Class 4A power rankings.

Riverdale returns to action this evening against Newman at 6 p.m. at Bonnabel Stadium in non-district play. Carver (8-7, 2-2) will host Crescent City Christian Friday at 4 p.m. in a non-district contest.
