Baseball Report: Mandeville, Warren Easton post district wins Saturday

Area Prep Baseball Report for Sunday, April 7

In District 6-5A, Mandeville doubled up Hammond 4-2 at home Saturday.

The Skippers took the lead with a run in the bottom of the second inning before the Tornadoes tied it with a run in the top of the third.

It stayed that way until the decisive sixth inning when Hammond scored a run in the top of the frame but Mandeville answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to secure the victory.

Desmond Sams drove in two runs for the Skippers (14-7, 4-5) while Stephen Graham added an RBI. Kenneth Bell drove in a run for Hammond (6-17, 3-6).

The two teams conclude their two-game series Tuesday at Hammond at 6:30 p.m.

In District 9-4A, Warren Easton handled Helen Cox 10-0 at Wesley Barrow Stadium to sweep the two-game series.

Terrell Williams pitched the shutout while Antoine Hawkins had two hits and three RBI and Jalen Rainey added two hits and two RBI for the Eagles.

Warren Easton (13-8, 2-0) returns to district play Tuesday at Belle Chasse at 6 p.m. while the Cougars (5-9, 0-3) will travel to face Karr Tuesday at 7 p.m.
