Baseball: Patrick Taylor avenges loss to Riverside

Area Prep Baseball Report for Wednesday, March 10

Patrick Taylor won at home against Riverside Academy 9-4 at Bridge City Playground Tuesday. The victory avenged a 12-6 loss to the Rebels last Saturday.

The Tigers struck for five runs in the bottom of the first inning and added a run in the third to make it 6-0. The Rebels cut the deficit to 6-1 with a run in the top of the fourth. Patrick Taylor scored three times in the bottom of the sixth before Riverside scored three in the top of the seventh to complete the scoring.

Kinkaid Hinyup was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI while Anson Mo-Billiot was 2-for-3 with an RBI to pace Patrick Taylor. Mason Raymond, Grant Roberts and Kyle Smith each drove in a run for the Tigers.

Gavin Tranchina pitched a complete game, allowing just one earned run on five hits. Tranchina had outstanding control, issuing no walks while striking out seven.

Patrick Taylor (6-2) will play Warren Easton Friday at 6:30 p.m. at home while Riverside (2-7) will host New Orleans Military & Maritime next Monday at 4 p.m.
