Three new winners highlight GCAC Weekly Volleyball Awards

NEW ORLEANS, La. – While one of the schools may remain the same we have three brand new student-athletes earning the honors this week as Dillard’s Codi Fillmore, Talladega’s Keundra Rembert and Philander Smith’s Jakayla Shrum.

Fillmore won Attacker of the Week by picking up two double-doubles while leading the Lady Bleu Devils in kills during three of the four matches. She had 40 kills (3.08 per set), 31 digs (2.38 per set), three aces and two blocks to guide DU to three sweeps plus a perfect 4-0 bubble versus Rust and Philander Smith.

Rembert, the Defender of the Week, averaged an even four digs per set (24 total) with five kills and two aces opposite Xavier (La.).

Shrum, voted GCAC Setter of the Week, had an eye-opening 9.50 assists per set and 171 overall in five games last week to go along with 2.50 digs per set (45 total), eight kills and two blocks as the Lady Panthers picked up two victories over Tougaloo.
