Baseball: Lakeshore, St. Paul’s, Northshore win Wednesday

Area Prep Baseball Report for Thursday, March 2

Lakeshore remained on top in District 8-4A with an 8-4 win Wednesday at Pearl River.

Gabe Dalton led the attack with two hits and two RBI while Preston Scott had two hits and an RBI for the Titans. Eli Lirette picked up the win, going five inning, allowing five hits.

Lakeshore (14-9, 5-0) will host Pearl River Friday at 4 p.m. to complete the series.

The Rebels fell to 14-7, 3-2 in district play.

St. Paul’s hammered Hammond 10-0 in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

Kade Anderson ended the game with single which scored a run and the bases cleared on an error to walk it off in the bottom of the fifth inning. Anderson finished with two hits and two RBI.

Braden Farizo was outstanding on the mound, pitching the complete game shutout, allowing just six hits.

Logan Pontiff had two hits, including a three-run homer. Marcus Newfield and Brodie Bouterie also had two hits and an RBI and Brennan Keim had a double and three RBI as part of a 12-hit attack.

Kaleb O’Hara had two hits for Hammond and took the loss on the mound.

St. Paul’s (10-10, 1-1) will play at Covington while Hammond (14-5, 0-2) will travel to Slidell. Both games are set for 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Also in 6-5A, Northshore won at Ponchatoula 7-0.

Noah Lasseigne was brilliant, pitching a one-hitter while striking out 10. Tyson Hailey and Andrew Vollenweider each drove in a pair of runs for the Panthers.

Northshore (10-12, 2-0) will host Fontainebleau on Friday at 4 p.m. while the Green Wave (4-15, 0-2) lost their seventh straight game and will travel to Mandeville on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
