In an outstanding matchup of traditionally strong programs, Destrehan scored a 3-2 win over E.D. White Catholic in nine innings at home Tuesday.

Payton Stubbs decided it with a walk-off, RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Chase Marcotte started the winning rally with a single and led the way for Destrehan, going 3-for-4.

Braden Fenerty pitched five innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Jack Conravey pitched the last three and a third innings, allowing just one hit to earn the win in relief.

Destrehan scored single runs in the bottom of the first and second innings to lead 2-0. Shane Lee and Jayse DeGruy each had RBI singles.

The Cardinals cut the deficit to 2-1 with a run in the top of the fourth and tied it with a run in the sixth inning.

Tyler Weimer pitched very well for E.D. White, going seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits with a walk and eight strikeouts. Grant Barbera took the loss in relief. Hudson Simoneaux had an RBI double while Barbera drove in the second run for the Cardinals.

Destrehan (10-6) has won four straight and the Wildcats will host Northshore Thursday at 4 p.m.

E.D. White (9-7) will entertain Pope John Paul II Thursday at 4 p.m.

Lutcher is always a threat to win a state title. That is certainly the case again in 2024, largely thanks to Marshall Louque.

Once again, the LSU commit was brilliant, pitching a 2-hitter as Lutcher edged Vandebilt Catholic 1-0 in Houma Tuesday in a District 7-4A showdown to open league play.

Louque went the distance, allowing just two hits. He walked two and struck out nine, using 96 pitches.

The Bulldogs got the only run of the game in the top of the second inning when Colin Roques doubled, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on an RBI grounder by Brady Roques.

Colin Roques had two of the four hits for Lutcher against James Guidry, who pitched outstanding in a losing cause. Guidry went the distance, issuing two walks while striking out seven.

The Bulldogs (14-3, 1-0), first in the Non-Select Division II power ratings, have won four straight and return to district play at home this evening against South Lafourche at 6 p.m.

The Terriers (11-9, 0-1), fourth in the Select Division II power ratings, entertain H.L. Bourgeois tonight at 6 p.m.

Brother Martin opened defense of its District 9-5A title with a convincing 8-0 win over Holy Cross at Kirsch-Rooney Stadium.

The Crusaders played a complete game, parlaying a pair of home runs by Frank Randol and a complete game shutout hurled by Cole Navarro.

Randol drove in four runs while Navarro pitched a two-hitter, walking just two while striking out seven Tigers.

Brother Martin got all the runs it needed in the bottom of the first inning on a 3-run homer by Randol.

The Crusaders (12-5, 1-0) made it 5-0 in the second inning with an RBI single by Stan Wiltz and a wild pitch which scored a second run.

Brother Martin scored its final three runs in the fifth inning on a solo homer by Randol with the other two runs scoring on wild pitches.

Trace Thomas took the loss for the Tigers.

Holy Cross (7-7, 2-1) will host the Crusaders Thursday at 4 p.m. at Tiger Park in the second game of the series.
