2018 Preseason All-Louisiana College Football teams

There is an abundance of talent playing college football in Louisiana on all levels. Most observers are familiar with their favorite team from the Pelican state, but there are many top rated players spread around within the borders.

Here’s a preseason list of the state’s best:

First Team Offense
QB-Jonathan Banks (6-2, 220) Tulane senior, no single player in Louisiana means more to his team than Banks, who tossed for 1,797 yards with 12 touchdowns & 5 interceptions and ran for 592 yards and 5 touchdowns.
RB-Trey Ragas (5-11, 227) Louisiana-Lafayette sophomore, the former Archbishop Shaw all-state performer had 853 yards (5.7 yards/carry) with 9 touchdowns.
RB-David Hamm (6-0, 222) McNeese senior, 805 yards (5.3 average) and 6 scores in ’17.
RB-Clyde Edwards-Helaire (5-8, 208) LSU sophomore, some of you think that I’ve lost my mind, but I believe he is going to be a LOT better than many think.
WR-Jonathan Giles (5-11, 184) LSU junior, Texas Tech transfer and former Biletnikoff semifinalist had 69 catches for 1,158 yards and 13 touchdowns in ’16.
WR-Teddy Veal (6-0, 189) La. Tech senior, former West Jeff and Tulane wudeout had 74 grabs for 950 yards and 7 touchdowns in ’17, also an excellent PR.
WR-Marcus Green (5-8, 198) ULM senior, brought back four kickoffs for touchdowns, added 54 catches for 812 yards and 5 touchdowns and ran for 194 yards
TE-Foster Moreau (6-6, 255) LSU senior, ex-Jesuit star has become complete player as receiver and excellent blocker.
OL-Ed Ingram (6-4, 315) LSU sophomore, 12 starts as true freshman.
OL-Saahdiq Charles (6-5, 321) LSU sophomore, 9 starts at left tackle for Tigers as true freshman.
OL-O’Shea Dugas (6-5, 320) La. Tech senior, 1st team CUSA, 31 career starts.
OL-Ryan Hanley (6-2, 290) Nicholls senior, 30 starts at center, has wrestling background.
OL-Kevin Dotson (6-4, 303) Louisiana-Lafayette junior, Cajuns’ most dependable lineman.
Return specialist-Juwan Petit-Frere (5-7, 170) SLU junior, led nation with eye popping 34.6 yard kick return average and 2 scores.

First Team Defense
DL-Jaylon Ferguson (6-5, 260) La. Tech senior, 39 tackles and 7 sacks in ’17, had 14.5 sacks as freshman.
DL-Rashard Lawrence (6-3, 300) LSU junior, 32 stops, 2 sacks. Could be one of better DT in school in long time.
DL-Mason Husman (6-4, 280) ULM sophomore, 37 stops, 3 TFL as freshman, just scratched surface.
DL-Breiden Fehoko (6-2, 298) LSU junior, Texas Tech transfer biting at bit to get started.
LB-Devin White (6-1, 255) LSU junior, led SEC with 122 tackles, 9 TFL, 4.5 sacks and in pick.
LB-De’Arius Christmas (5-10, 220) Grambling senior,. All SWAC after 88 stops, 17.5 TFL and 4.5 sacks.
LB-David Griffith (6-1, 213) ULM senior, 78 stops, 6 TFL, 2 sacks.
DB-Greedy Williams (6-2, 182) LSU sophomore, may be nation’s best, a sure first round NFL draft pick.
DB-Amik Roberson (5-9, 172) La. Tech sophomore, huge splash as freshman with 62 tackles, 5 interceptions, 2 sacks, 5 TFL.
DB-Wesley Thompson (6-1, 200) ULM senior, 67 tackles last season
DB-John Battle (6-3, 201) LSU Sr. 61 stops, 2 TFL, 1 interception.

2018 Offensive MVP: Jonathan Banks, could be first player in 31 years at Tulane (since Terrence Jones) to lead team passing and rushing.
Defensive MVP: Devin White leader of Tiger defense
Newcomer of Year: Jonathan Giles- game changer for Tigers.
Coach of the Year: Willie Fritz of Tulane will lead Green Wave to a bowl game.

Second Team Offense
QB-Caleb Evans (6-2, 210) ULM junior, had 2,868 yards with 17 touchdowns, 6 interceptions (61.3%) ran for 579 yards (4.2 average) 13 touchdowns.
RB-Derrick Gore (5-10, 213) ULM senior, 585 yards rushing, 6 touchdowns, 13 catches for another score.
RB-Chris Jones (5-9, 193) Northwestern State senior, 786 yards (4.6 average) and 5 touchdowns.
RB-Corey Dauphine (6-0, 200) Tulane junior, Texas Tech transfer has similar skills to former Wave rusher Dontrell Hilliard.
WR-Damon Jeanpierre (6-0, 180) Nicholls senior, 40 grabs for 770 yards and 4 touchdowns.
WR-Terren Encalade (6-0, 190) Tulane senior, 39 catches for 730 yards and 4 touchdowns in ’17 for former Belle Chasse star.
WR-Rhyeem Malone (5-9, 187) Louisiana-Lafayette senior, game-changer had 44 grabs for 676 yards with 4 touchdowns last year.
TE-Jordan Jones (6-2, 260) Grambling junior, super blocker and can catch mid routes.
OL-John Leglue (6-7, 305) Tulane senior, 24 starts
OL-William Wardell (6-2, 335) Grambling senior, 1st team All SWAC. Can be dominating.
OL-Corey Dublin (6-4, 300) Tulane sophomore, 12 starts as true freshman, twice La. heavyweight wrestling champion at Jesuit.
OL-Devin Jackson (6-5, 350) ULM junior, ex. Edna Karr with 22 starts past 2 seasons.
OL-Noah Fisher (6-5, 315) Tulane grad transfer from South Alabama will be stalwart for Wave O-Line, Had 27 starts at So. Alabama.

Second Team Defense
DL-La’Allan Clark (6-2, 240) Grambling senior, tallied 30 stops, 11.5 TFL and 8 sacks.
DL-Sully Laiche (6-2, 270) Nicholls junior, 22 starts in 2 seasons, freshman All American in 2016.
DL-Cameron Sample (6-4, 275) Tulane sophomore, 26 stops, 2 TFL as freshman. Just getting warmed up.
DL-Glen Logan (6-4, 315) LSU sophomore, can play anywhere along line, super quick.
LB-K’Lavon Chaisson (6-4, 240) LSU sophomore, only 3 starts as true freshman but watch out what he can do this go ’round.
LB-Jacques Boudreaux (6-1, 225) Louisiana-Lafayette junior, 58 tackles, 2.5 TFL, 1 interception.
LB-Dae’Von Washington (5’10-215) La. Tech senior, team leader with 70 tackles, 4.5 TFL and 2 pick offs. Great athleticism.
DB-Corey Turner (6-1, 204) Sr. strong safety hails from Crescent city, had 68 tackles, 5 TFL and 1 int. for Cajuns.
DB-Donnie Lewis (6-0, 195) Tulane senior, 36 stops, 3 interceptions and 11 break ups. Terrific ball skills.
DB Roderic Teamer (6-0, 210) Tulane senior, Ex. Brother Martin star had 48 tackles, 3.5 TFL from FS spot. Hard hitter.
DB-Corey Abraham (6-0, 200) Nicholls senior, 79 tackles, 23 starts for Colonels. Leader in secondary.

Third Team Offense
QB-Chase Fourcade (6-0, 190) Nicholls junior, 13 wins in 22 starts. 2 years 4,798 yards passing with 32 touchdowns.
RB-Kyran Irvin (6-1, 210) Nicholls junior, 764 yards rushing with 8 scores.
RB-Darrius Bradwell (6-1, 235) Tulane junior, healthy 6.2 yard per carry average with 411 yards and 4 touchdowns.
RB-Chris Curry (5’11-210) LSU freshman, highly anticipated arrival for Tigers in ’18 class as 4 star recruit.
WR- Terrace Marshall (6-3, 194) LSU freshman, top prospect, reminds me of Michael Clayton as freshman.
WR-Jordan Jefferson (6-2, 185) LSU sophomore, made huge leap from 2017 to where he is now.
WR-Darrell Clark (6-0, 180) Grambling senior, former Warren Easton star signed with Arizona in ’15 class, had 31 catches in ’17 for 382 yards and 5 touchdowns.
OL-Badara Traore (6-7, 310) LSU junior, new arrival with credentials, rated as top tackle coming out of JUCO.
OL-Chandler Arceneaux (6-5, 293) Nicholls senior, could be third lineman from school that makes it to NFL.
OL-Ethan Reed (6-4, 297) La. Tech junior, 27 career starts for Bulldogs.
OL-Chris Zirkle (6-3, 302) Northwestern State junior, consistent high grader each outing for Demons.
OL-Jeremiah Abby (6-4, 328) Southern junior, can be best at position coming out of SU program in a long time.

Third Team Defense
DL-Jeffery Johnson (6-2, 320) Tulane freshman, true freshamn who made immediate “waves” at Tulane during spring drills.
DL-Ed Alexander (6-3, 340) LSU junior, one of best at his spot in SEC.
DL-Donald Louis (6-3, 275) ULM junior, 32 tackles, good pass rusher.
DL-Brandon Varner (6-4, 255) Grambling senior, returning All-SWAC performer.
LB Zachary Harris (6-0, 225) Tulane senior, former Holy Cross star had 69 stops with 3 TFL in ’17
LB-Allen Pittman (5’11-215) Nicholls junior, ‘Tazmanian Devil’ type of player with 80 stops and 6 TFL last fall.
LB-De’Andre Hogues (6-2, 215) Grambling junior, 41 stops, 2 TFL in ’17.
DB-B.J. Blount (6-1, 210) McNeese senior, former McDonogh 35 star had 43 stops, 9.5 TFL and pair of sacks for Cowboys.
DB-Grant Delpit (6-3, 201) LSU sophomore, 60 tackles as true freshman with 3.5 TFL and a pick.
DB-Andre Augustine (6-3, 185) Southern senior, All-SWAC with 51 tackles.
DB-Kendall Johnson (6-0, 192) Louisiana-Lafayette senior, Lafayette native transferred from Nevada where he made 24 starts.
